AIR AMBULANCE BENEFITS FROM ROYAL'S POOLS BET

A local charity joined thousands of Hartlepool United fans celebrating the team’s Great Escape from relegation this season, after benefiting from a bet on them staying up.

Richard Royal, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Hartlepool, was invited to visit the local Ladbrokes shop on Church Street in February when Pools were still four points adrift. He placed a £50 charity stake on Hartlepool United to remain in League Two at odds of 5/1.

The winnings of £300 have been donated to the Great North Air Ambulance Service which operates three helicopters covering the North of England with specialist trauma doctors and paramedics, who bring accident and emergency expertise to the scene of any incident.

Richard Royal said:

“I’m absolutely delighted for this fantastic charity as well as for Pools and the town. The Great North Air Ambulance provides a vital service to Hartlepool and the North, and I’m extremely pleased to be able to make a contribution.”
